She'd wanted to sleep in her own bed and room for a long time. The walkie talkie gave her the courage to feel like a big girl and move into her own bed and room. She sleeps with one walkie talkie next to her, and I have one in my room. She says that if she gets scared, she can press the button, and then a loud alarm goes offa beep beep beep. And she can talk to me too. It was so sweet! The very first night, when she was lying in her bed, about ten minutes later I heard her quietly singing, "Jesus loves me, I know it, because the Bible tells me so." That really touched me! And it also gave me the reassurance that I would hear her if she needed me. She also loves playing with the walkie talkies with her 13 year old cousin. And he has a lot of fun with them too. I highly recommend them. They work perfectly and are very well made.

It's great, but you can also overhear other conversations. These things work really well. I gave them to my toddler for Christmas and was a little surprised when we heard conversations in a different language, one my family doesn't speak, on a different frequency. So be aware that they're real. Just keep an eye on your children when they're using them.

Fantastic! I bought these walkie talkies for my 8 and 10 year old children. They're really great, and the sound is very clear and crisp. An absolute must have for kids they'll be thrilled! The built in flashlight is a great bonus. My older children used to get so frustrated because their walkie talkies never worked properly.

Kids' walkie talkies. This was the third search result when I looked for rechargeable walkie talkies. They are NOT rechargeable. That was my mistake, as I hadn't researched more thoroughly. However, I was in a hurry, and the item had many positive reviews and was supposed to arrive before Christmas, so I ordered it. My rating isn't based on not reading the product description carefully enough, as it clearly states that batteries are required. The product images are misleading, in my opinion. The screen isn't backlit in blue, as shown in the pictures, but in green. A small detail, but still an inaccuracy, and I would have preferred blue. The walkie talkies seem to work well, but I think they're a bit too complicated for toddlers to use independently. I'd say they're best suited for children aged 5 and up, but that's just my opinion. Once an adult has set them up, I think toddlers can use them, but hopefully they won't be fiddling with the buttons and changing channels, because in our experience, it's very easy to overhear other conversations on many channels. There's only one private channel for these two devices. It would be really convenient not to have to worry about overhearing other conversations. I also think it would be great if scanning channels were easier and the walkie talkies automatically connected to a channel, with the option to override this if needed. Right now, they just scroll endlessly through the channels until you stop them. I would have preferred the talk button to be on the side of the device, like on a traditional walkie talkie, so that children wouldn't accidentally press other buttons on the front and potentially change the channel. That's what happened with our device, and my little one heard someone talking, panicked, dropped it, and hasn't touched it since. There was also a frequency that played Christmas music continuously, which was a bit odd. I wish the walkie talkies could search for a free channel, but I'm not sure if that's even possible, and probably not at this price point. Another desirable feature would be an automatic power off after a certain period of inactivity. It would be great if the duration could be configured in the settings. For example, the user could select 5, 10, or 15 minutes, similar to a sleep timer on a TV. This would extend battery life, as the devices are not rechargeable. I noticed that the backlight turns off if no button is pressed for a while. Again, it would be handy to have the backlight stay on permanently or to have it turn off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity or another preset time. We haven't been using the devices for very long, so I can't yet comment on their durability, longevity, or battery life. The pink set is really cute, and the flashlight is a handy extra. Depending on the battery life, I might get a rechargeable version, which is what I originally wanted to do anyway.

The device was given to a 6 year old child as a birthday present. Initially, the child had difficulty understanding that all devices had to be set to the same channel. When the devices were switched on in a moving car, conversations of strangers could be heard. It sounded like CB radio. This is worrying, as a 6 year old is using the devices.

Better than expected! Based on my previous experiences with walkie talkies, I didn't have high expectations for this toy. The best thing about it is that it doesn't have a retractable antenna that breaks easily. That's a huge plus. The sound is also completely noise free and distortion free. The range is quite good. It even works between different floors. I was on the ground floor and my daughter was in the basement, and it worked perfectly. A great, old fashioned toy that children can use outdoors, at home while playing with friends or family or simply for communicating between rooms.

Cute, but broken after a month. My granddaughter loved these walkie talkies. Unfortunately, they broke after only a month. They were inexpensive and made of cheap plastic. Although they were cute, my granddaughter was very disappointed when they stopped working.

Functionally flawless, but I would prefer it if the talk button were in the usual place on the side. The walkie talkies are great for children to play with in the neighborhood and while camping. They are loud and clear and relatively easy to use. We deducted one star because the talk button is on the front of the walkie talkie and not on the side, and because they require disposable batteries. Children like to press the side button blindly to talk, and that's not possible with these walkie talkies. A minor point, but kids will be kids.

It's difficult for children to operate the button in the center of the device with one hand. Remove the scan button or position it so that it doesn't obstruct the other buttons. It's often pressed accidentally and isn't really useful for children. Aside from these points, I would describe it as a perfect toy for children. The sound quality and range are also excellent!
